Diver’s Day is a new addition to the UHMS Annual Meeting and allows guest divers, non-medical and non-members to attend Thursday’s presentations for only $25.00. The event is scheduled from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Marriott Delray Beach, 10 Ocean Blvd, Delray Beach, Florida. Learn more

Cardiac Issues in Diving – Doug Ebersole, MD
Dr. Ebersole is a cardiologist at Watson Clinic LLP in Lakeland, Florida specializing in coronary and structural heart interventions. He is also an avid technical diver, a cave diver, a CCR trimix instructor, and a cardiology consultant for the Divers Alert Network. His medical background and diving experience gives him a unique perspective on diving physiology.
Diving Fatalities, Lessons Learned – Dan Orr
Former president of DAN, Inc., Mr. Orr is a well-known scuba industry representative and ambassador for Divers Alert Network best recognized for developing the DAN Oxygen Program that has become the worldwide standard in the first aid for diving emergencies.
Physical and Physiological Stresses in SCUBA and Breath Hold Diving – Michael Strauss, MD
Dr. Strauss is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California Irvine as well as the orthopaedic consultant for the PACT (Preservation-Amputation, Care, and Treatment) Clinic at the Veterans Affairs Health Care Medical Center, Long Beach, Calif. Dr. Strauss has written two text books (“Diving Science,” 2004 and “MasterMinding Wounds,” 2010), three chapters for Kindwall’s 2008 “Hyperbaric Medicine Practice” text as well as more than 100 publications on orthopaedic, diving medicine, hyperbaric medicine and wound management subjects.
Emergency Accident Planning Workshop – Ebersole, Orr, Strauss and Nick Bird, MD
Dr. Bird is the CEO and Chief Medical Officer at DAN and oversees the mission departments of medicine, research and education. He received his initial training in hyperbaric medicine while stationed at Travis Air Force Base and completed a fellowship in diving and hyperbaric medicine at the University of California San Diego. He then served as the medical director for hyperbaric medicine at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, UT prior to coming to DAN.
