On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. We are excited about your involvement in our mission of preventing freediver accidents through safety education and awareness. Our goal is to eliminate preventable incidents so that no diver is senselessly lost to freediver blackout and other avoidable injuries.
Today, shallow water blackouts are the number one risk in the sport, even though that risk can be mitigated with proper education. The key to making the sport of freediving safer is education to help all freedivers learn how to protect themselves from blackout. It is work that I, and the entire DiveWise community, is actively engaged in and feels passionate about.
In 2015, DiveWise is committed to establishing an online educational portal aimed at demonstrating sound freedive practices, making these lifesaving measures available to all. Many divers, especially young freedivers, do not understand the risks in the sport and how to prevent them in order to avoid freediver blackout.
We cannot do this alone. DiveWise relies on the support of the entire freediving community – spearos, freedivers, apnea divers, and business owners – we all can work together to build a safer sport. Your donation today can save a fellow freediver’s life tomorrow. Join us and be a part of a global celebration and a new tradition of generosity.
Here are a few simple things you can do to get started today:
2.Donate $15 today to help us raise funds for an interactive, online education portal for freediving kids, families and anyone who is getting started in our sport. Your generous gift is tax deductible.
