I’m participating in the Tampa, Florida Double Ironman Event on March 6-7, 2015 to help DiveWise further freedive safety.
Donate Online to Swim, Bike, Run for DiveWise! at Razoo
My name is Robert Richardson and I’m going to swim 4.8 miles, bike 224 miles, and run 52.4 miles, to raise money to benefit DiveWise. Here’s why:
Almost seven years ago my younger brother and I were freediving together when he blacked out underwater and I also blacked out trying to rescue him. We were found lifeless and purple by our friends, who performed CPR on us until medevac arrived, saving our lives.
We survived, but many others in our sport do not survive blackout events. Realizing this, my mom founded the world’s first freedive safety nonprofit organization – DiveWise – to help further freedive safety education. She wanted freedivers to understand the risks so they could dive safely. DiveWise helps educate people all over the world, and now she’s working to create coursework online so everyone can access the education they need to stay safe while freediving and spearfishing.
But she needs help to make it happen.
Please support me in my DiveWise fundraiser Double Ironman event by giving to DiveWise so I can help make the sport of freediving and spearfishing safer for the participants. Thank you for partnering with me to help DiveWise!
